Private Roy Humphrey of Toledo, Ohio, is being given blood plasma by Pfc. Harvey White of Minneapolis, Minn., after he was wounded by shrapnel, on 9 August 1943 in Sicily. Wever.
The empathy on the face of the woman to the right of the child is heartbreaking. The child’s expression of a kind of wary but curious worry is equally moving.
