It’s the mid 1980s, and The Cure have more hair than they know what to do with.

The Cure / Just Like Heaven

Daylight licked me into shape
I must have been asleep for days
And moving lips to breathe her name
I opened up my eyes
And found myself alone alone
Alone above a raging sea
That stole the only girl I loved
And drowned her deep inside of me

Simon looks awful grumpy
Probably because he didn’t get to stand next to Robert

Do you think perhaps the photographer made the grave error of asking them to stand differently than usual to mix things up? Because I see no other reason why Simon should be standing anywhere but next to Robert. Everyone knows that’s his spot.

I’m sure.

Robert Smith, biting his tongue and looking very pleased with himself while he rummages through his hair.
He’s not looking for secrets, people, he’s adjusting the kitten.

Simon seriously, it’s so obvious that you wish that Robert wasn’t holding that instrument there.

Awww… He just wanted to cuddle!

I think “Pornography” is the best album The Cure have made, the most powerful: it started like the other ones, but then grew into something different; it turned into a kind of animal, while the others hadn’t gone that far. That’s the reason why the old Cure split up: “Pornography” brought out an unexpected intensity and in six months time everything disintegrated, we started hating each other. Personalities were brought to an extreme causing relentless fights. I know the press wasn’t kind with us, but I don’t read reviews, I don’t care what a journalist write about me, I take notice of the letters people write to me personally. I read them all with equal interest because I know the people who buy our records are important, but in the end the only important thing is what I think of my own work, that’s the only criterion I follow.

Robert Smith (via thecurelyrics)

…I’m still not ready to talk about the break-up.

Endlessly applicable to life.

[B/w photo of Robert Smith, gazing upward, looking all fragile]
…Wait, is he…is he cradled against another bloke’s chest?
I bet cash money dollars it’s Simon

Isn’t that a sliver of Simon’s bass in the corner there by Robert’s ear? Or am I imagining things because I want it to be one of those pictures of the purity of their love?
